We read Matthew 6: 1-24. We focused on the Jesus' example of how we should pray. We need to go and pray in secret and make our requests known to God. Our conversations are to be personal with Him, not acts of showmanship to make ourselves look good. We have a hard time with people thinking if they get more people to pray for something, that they will have more sway with God and get what they are asking for. We need to just pray with a heart of faith that He hears us. We need to examine our hearts and our lives, that we are doing what He asks and that we have a right relationship with Him. If there is something we need to repent of, then we need to do it. We are to be persistent in our prayers and not give up easily, but not repetitive in our words, like chanting. We are to always be mindful of the Lord and asking for His will in our request, and be willing to wait on Him if needed.
We sang these songs:

We then closed with our daughter playing the hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" on the piano and we sang along. It is great for family devotions, if family members like to sing or play an instrument, that they lead in some songs and everyone joins in.
